She started her apprenticeship in 1985 under Alan Jones in Cambridge, N.Z., and rode her first ride on Cool Deal in August 1985 at the Te Awamatu track in her home country.

To date she has booted home more than 500 winners and she states that her favourite horse was that first ride, Cool Deal.

She rates the best horses that she has ridden as Alynda, Good Faith, Hero and Centre Crest.

She considers that her best qualities are her "sense of pace" and "being first out of the gate". Her hobbes include hunting on horses, skiing, jet skiing and scuba diving.
